Nostalgic movies return to Ballymoney

BIG screen movies make a return to Ballymoney town in this jubilee year with the 1953 classic musical “Kiss Me Kate” on Thursday 26th July.

The Town Hall where the film will be screened is not far from the site of the old High Street cinema, The Palladium, which opened its doors in 1937. The Kiss Me Kate film adaption of the broadway musical which was a famed stage hit combines Shakespears Taming of The Shrew with Potters musical. Its Witty and thoroughly beguiling, every number is a show-stopper.

Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson are the tangled twosome, So in Love despite her I Hate Men flashpoints. Ann Miller adds heat, razzle-tap dazzling in Too Darn Hot and wowing Tom, Dick & Harry ( Bob Fosse, Tommy Rall and Bobby Van). Foose and Hermes Pan provide zesty choreography under Goerge Sidney’s nimble direction. So Brush Up Your Shakespeare and Enjoy. Kate wont just kiss you she will floor you.

Doors open 7pm.for the 7.30pM screening.

In its heyday the town’s cinema was considered as one of the best cinemas in the Province, but sadly closed its doors in 1969.  The cinema was a cheap and popular form of entertainment in its day.

In the year of the Queen’s Coronation there were daily screenings at 6pm with matinees at 1pm. Come along for this nostalgic night out.  Tickets great value at £1.00.  Group bookings welcome.
