‘On Yer Bike’

This year the Travelwise NI Bike Week initiative runs from 18-26 June and Ballymoney Borough Council is working in conjunction with partners Ballymoney Cycling Club, Coleraine Borough Council and Sustrans Connect2 to bring about a range of events to promote cycling and sustainable travel within the Borough and beyond.

In the lead up to Bike Week a special three week refresher course aimed at women returning to cycling has been organised in conjunction with Annette Scott, a local National Standards Cycling Instructor.

The aim of the course is to regain lost confidence in cycling and recapture the fun and pleasure of riding your bike. This relaxed and enjoyable course will train ladies up to National Cycling level 2, which is the new cycling proficiency for all ages.

The course will include basic bike handling followed by on-road training in dealing with traffic and road junctions to inspire confidence when cycling “roon the toon.” The course will run on consecutive Wednesday evenings, 1st, 8th and 22th June, meeting in Townhead Street Car Park at 7.00pm sharp. Each session will last for approximately 1-2 hours and participants need to bring a road worthy bike and helmet.

As this is a bike week event, the training, which normally carries a charge, is FREE! So hurry and avail of this great opportunity as places are limited. To secure your place contact Annette on 07852263062. For further information on Bike Week and upcoming events you can call Ballymoney Borough Council on 028 276 60227.
