Two local young farmers have scooped top awards at the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster’s annual general meeting.

Top secretary of the year was announced as Gail McCullough from Lisnamurrican YFC. In second place came Jessica Lee, Ballywalter YFC and in third place Sarah Spence, Bleary YFC.

Cathy Reid of Glarryford YFC, took the title of Top PRO of the year. In second place was Anna Truesdale, Spa YFC and third place Sarah Hawkes, Seskinore YFC.

Member of the year awards go to individual members who have been dedicated to supporting and growing the YFCU.

The YFCU would like to thank all members who have taken up a club role and have devoted their time to the smooth running and development of their individual clubs.

“It is great to see the enthusiasm of the members who were finalists in both the Junior and Senior categories and to hear how they and their clubs have adapted to the limitations imposed through the pandemic.

The YFCU were delighted to have two special YFC guests join the YFCU AGM virtually from the Wales YFC and Scottish Association Young Farmers’ Clubs.

The YFCU look forward to working in partnership with all Young Farmers’ Clubs across the United Kingdom once the pandemic is over.

Commenting on the AGM, Gemma Bruce, Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs, said: “It was fantastic to see so many members in attendance at the YFCU AGM. It was also great to see a number of candidates competing for the deputy and vice president roles.

“Both are a sign of the strength of the YFCU.”
