Paisley responds to criticism over letter

In response to last week’s story: ‘Outrage over Paisley letter to non-voters’.

North Antrim MP Ian Paisley explained: “I wanted to issue these letters after the European and local council elections to try and gain some feedback from my constituents and encourage people to vote in the Westminster elections in May. I’ve had a wonderful response from people applying for new voter identity or seeking information on postal votes. I want to assure anyone concerned over their privacy that the only information used were the marked registers which are in the public eye and can be accessed by members of the public. I believe it important to engage with the electorate and encourage them to vote.”
