Pay*ola returns to Hagues

THE monthly series of SO:NI live showcase gigs continues at Hague’s Bar in Lisburn on Thursday July 28, and promises to be another special show.

The gig will be headlined by perennial Belfast rockers Pay*ola, who will be returning to Lisburn for the first time in many months.

The band had a lengthy break from gigging in last 2010/early 2011 due to lead guitarist Nick Joseph sustaining a sports-related head injury.

His ongoing recovery has only recently allowed a return to live performance, and their ‘comeback’ show at the ‘Anlassen’ motorbike and music festival in Germany in April was an emotionally charged occasion – possibly the most important show Pay*ola will ever play.

The band is still promoting 2010’s well received Optimism Will Destroy Me album, and will also be road-testing some brand new material, to be recorded soon for their next release.

There is also a great support line up arranged, featuring Belfast/Bangor classic rock outfit Sweet Taste – a swaggering, punchy and bluesy 4-piece with Aerosmith and Black Crowes influences.

Also playing is Lisburn trio Full Rejector – recent finalists in the Music Quest competition, and ever improving as a live act, with many dynamic new tunes in their armoury.

First up is brand new acoustic act Ezekiel Boom, led by local singer-songwriter Alan Kennedy.

A great atmosphere is always guaranteed at the SO:NI nights, which take place on the last Thursday of each month. Doors open at 8.30pm, and admission is only £4.
