But now, Christine Malone is asking people in the town to give their time as volunteers.

She said: “I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our customers in Ballymena for continuing to support PDSA by buying our goods and helping to raise much needed funds, which are used to treat sick and injured pets across the UK. The local community are so generous in giving their pre-loved treasures - clothes, shoes, toys, accessories and bric-a-brac - and we are very grateful to every single person who has supported us.

As a charity shop, we not only rely on kind donations, but also the gift of time, in the form of our wonderful team of volunteers.

“We currently have a range of positions open for new volunteers to join our team and help run the store, serve customers, sort through stock donations and help raise even more cash for poorly pets.

Volunteers come to us for a variety of reasons: to boost CVs when applying for jobs, students looking for work experience, mums with kids at school and retired people who want to use some of their time to support our cause. Whatever the reason, our volunteers enjoy the challenge, the fulfilment and the companionship of working within a committed team who are passionate about pets. If this sounds like something that your readers would be interested in, they can call the store on 02825 651926 to find out more.”
