Pigeon Field festival proves a smash hit

The Pigeon Field Festival held at Leslie Hill farm saw two days of music, films, and poetry reading at a location which drew many favourable comments from the hundreds present.

Not only were people impressed by the surroundings, but by the way the festival was organised.

The good weather helped contribute to a relaxed occasion and the overwhelming view was that things could not have been better.

Festival-goers from far and near were impressed by the quality of artistes who occupied the stage for the two days and while the those taking part were not household names, their music proved hugely popular.

Festival organiser, John Leslie, would not be drawn as to whether the festival will go ahead next year.

“We will take sometime to assess things and discuss what we could do to make improvements. Obviously we need a certain number of people here to clear our overheads and it is accepted that it takes a few years to achieve that.

“But we must take the positives and it is clear that Leslie Hill not only has the facilities, but proves a perfect setting for an outdoor festival,” he told the Times.

Feedback is important in future plans, but there is no doubt that Pigeon Field went down well with those present many of whom hope it will take place next year.

Two young men from Downpatrick said their experience of Lesley Hill was “great.”

They said: “We have been to many festivals, but this was great value for money. We would love to come back.”
