Pupils honoured for perfect school attendance

THE North Eastern Education and Library Board has congratulated two Glengormley students on achieving full attendance at primary and post-primary school.

Gerald Anthony Jenkins, with twelve years perfect attendance at Tir na nOg Primary School and Edmund Rice College, and Brendan Magee, with seven perfect years attendance at St Vincent De Paul Primary followed by another perfect seven at Edmund Rice College, were among eight young people from across the NEELB area who notched up a combined total of 108 years without missing a day of school.

At a certificate presentation at the Antrim Board Centre, the Board’s Chairman, Rev Selwoode Graham commended all the young adults for their excellent achievement.

“You all should feel extremely proud of yourselves for such dedication, which I hope continues into your adult life.

“Being blessed with good health plays a huge part, but credit also goes to your parents for their encouragement during times which may have been very difficult,” he said.
