Raymond’s latest play in town hall

Rehearsals are now almost complete in advance of the December 1 opening night.

Mark Blevins, 19, takes the leading part as Luke Sharkey. Mark has shown great resilience in the role despite having to deal with some very difficult and hurtful scenes. He is supported on stage by many fine actors from the local drama scene including Jonathan McGuinness, Aaron Murphy, Michael McAleenan and Nicola O’Hara.

Karen McConville plays Luke’s mother, a character who experiences the full range of emotions throughout the play’s many turns. Brendan Magee plays two roles that represent the extreme and ugly face of authority in 1960 and the excellent cast is completed by David Murphy, Ruairi Coleman, Laura Robinson and Geraldine Owens.

‘Down’s But Not Out’ is a thought provoking piece of writing that challenges the audience. Despite this, there is also plenty of opportunity for laughter and the writer is hopeful that the correct balance has been struck.

The play opens in Lurgan Town Hall on Thursday, December 1, at 7.30 and runs for three nights.
