Riders show off their skills

TWO talented BMX riders from Newtownabbey recently showed off their skills at the ‘Urban Expose’ finale event of the ‘RampRage Milk It Tour’ at T13 in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.

Ethan Axon (10) from Rathcoole and Michael Campbell (12) from Monkstown were among hundreds of young people from across Northern Ireland who took part in the event.

Hosted in partnership with the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland, the free event marked the culmination of a community outreach programme aimed at encouraging younger age groups to get active and drink milk. It included world class demonstrations, free workshops in BMX, skate, break dance, hip hop, DJing and parkour. A ‘Milk It’ photo booth also provided lots of chances for consumers to win exclusive RampRage and Milk It merchandise.

Commenting on the success of the event, Dr Mike Johnston, Chief Executive of the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland said: “Our partnership with T13 throughout this ‘RampRage Milk It Tour’ has allowed us to help young people discover not only fun and exciting ways to exercise but has also provided us with the opportunity to educate them about the benefits of milk as a natural sports drink.

“This activity is part of our ongoing ‘Milk in Action’ campaign which aims to highlight that milk is a great drink after sport, providing fluid, electrolytes potassium and sodium, and protein as well as other nutrients that active bodies need such as calcium , B vitamins, iodine and phosphorus.”
