Robert Mizzell in top gear for Tullyglass return

ROBERT Mizzell and his band will make a welcome return to the Tullyglass House Hotel, Ballymena on Saturday March 23rd conscious that their most recent single ‘Papa loved mama’ has further enhanced their popularity.

The success of the single has taken the band somewhat by surprise but now plans are afoot for a new CD.

Indeed, ever since coming to Ireland some sixteen years ago, Robert has pursued a very strong recording policy which has stood him in good stead.

The band have added new material to their programme and with crowds increasing everywhere life on the road could hardly be better for Louisiana-born Robert.

“I must say I am enjoying life more than ever right now,” says Robert, “We are getting tremendous a reaction everywhere we appear and what pleases me most is that more and more young people are coming to our dances.

“And they certainly know how to dance too. There seems to be a great emphasis on jiving now and it’s the young folk who appear to be leading the way in this department!”

As well as fulfilling dance dates in all parts of the country, Robert is also very much in demand for concert appearances.

He only recently performed at a concert in Cavan which attracted 1200 people and will appear at several other concerts in prestige venues shortly.

“It’s good to see the concert scene flourishing in tandem with county dancing. This means that more people get to hear bands and that certainly helps the entertainment business as a whole,” points out Robert.

Later this year he will make a trip to the United States when he will be accompanied by many of his fans and they will take in many of the sights in his home state Louisiana.

It’s something to which Robert is particularly looking forward.

“While I love living in Ireland and have grown very fond of the people here, I like to return to the States occasionally. It would seem that more and more people like to accompany us on these trips and I’m delighted about that,” smiles Robert.

For the moment, though, his entire focus is on the Tullyglass House Hotel on Saturday, March 23.
