Speaking to The Times on Monday, Robyn said he was delighted to have won the award.

“I was pleased just to be nominated, but to win, well, it just shows that I must be doing something right.”

Robyn’s second album has had high praise, Chris Jones for Culture NI said that the ‘album affirms his status as songwriter par excellence’

He went on: “Shiels is a songwriter of rare talent, with a flair for words both beautiful and brutal, often simultaneously, the brutality often directed at himself.”
