Roll up for fun in the library

LOCAL libraries are getting ready to introduce children to a summertime circus spectacle that will keep them reading throughout the school summer holidays.

Circus Stars is the theme of the 2011 Summer Reading Challenge which encourages youngsters to read six or more books of their choice during the holidays, with collectable incentives and rewards. As they read their way through six books, the children will help the Circus Stars progress through practice and rehearsal to their ultimate goal – show time.

Libraries NI is inviting children, parents and carers to sign up in any branch or mobile library to participate in the free-to-enter Circus Stars Challenge, which takes place between July 1-August 31.

An interactive Circus Stars website (www.circus-stars.org.uk) links children with top authors and illustrators and gives them space to talk about their favourite books and to share reading ideas.
