Ronan Keating backscancer roadshow

POP STAR Ronan Keating is used to headlining sell-out tours, but this week he is happy to play a supporting role when a Cancer Awareness Roadshow hits Coleraine.

Ronan, who lost his mother Marie to breast cancer 14 years ago, is urging people to visit a Cancer Research UK mobile health information at Daneshill Road shops on Wednesday, August 14 10 am-4pm and Pates Lane on Thursday, August 15, 1pm-4pm, as part of a collaboration with the Marie Keating Foundation.

The unit, supported by the star, aims to raise awareness of how people can reduce their risk of cancer and the importance of early diagnosis as well as providing support to help people make positive changes to their lifestyle. For free, visitors can talk to a nurse in a private room, take a BMI test to find out whether their weight is within a healthy range, and pick up useful health information to take away.

Lesley Green, Senior Cancer Awareness nurse, said: “We hope to talk to members of the public – men and women, young and old - about how cancer can be prevented and detected. We offer visitors the opportunity to have a private conversation with our nurses and also invite local health workers onto the unit.”
