Roses on agenda for Garden Club

A highlight of Ballymena Garden Club’s 2012 activities was a recording of the BBC Radio Ulster Gardeners’ Corner programme in early October in Houston’s Mill, Broughshane.

Presenter, Cherrie McIlwaine introduced the panel of experts, Jim Bradley from the Mid-Ulster Garden Centre in Maghera and Brendan Little, a garden designer and lecturer from Co Donegal. Questions submitted by members were answered to their satisfaction and time was allowed for responses by those posing the questions. Such was the desire for advice that the panel were kept busy long after the recording session had finished. The programme will be broadcast on Saturday 27 October at 9.03 am and will be repeated on Sunday 28 October at 1.05 pm.

The Club’s next meeting will be held in Houston’s Mill, Broughshane, on Monday 5 November at 7.30 pm when Roy Moore will speak on “Growing Roses”
