Ross Park venue for Summer Ball in aid of Help for Heroes centre at

A SPECIAL summer ball is being held in Ballymena to help raise money for a charity that funds the invaluable Tedworth House, the Help For Heroes personnel recovery and assessment centre in Wiltshire.

The Ball is being held on Friday, July 13 at the Ross Park Hotel from 7.30pm until late and will include a four course meal and drinks reception.

The tickets are £35 with all proceeds going towards Race2Recovery, the initiative in which a small group of wounded British soldiers will take part in the Dakar Rally.

One of those taking part in the world’s most famous off-road motorsport race is Galgorm’s Corporal Philip Gillespie.

The Ballymena soldier lost part of his right leg in an explosion in Afghanistan and under went six operations and hours of gruelling rehabilitation since the attack in Helmand Province last January. In January 2013 Philip and the team will start the race in South America after 18 months of training and racing in the UK, Europe and North Africa.
