The event is supported and part funded by Cookstown District Council and is organised by Blood Sweat & Tears (BST) Extreme running in conjunction with the local Firemen in Pomeroy. The Firemen were keen to raise awareness and funds for local charity SOFT when fireman Paul Murphy and his wife Martina sadly lost a child to the illness last year.

The SOFT foundation was set up by parents of trisomy children in Ireland. The charity is designed to help those affected by trisomy 13/18, Patau’s and Edwards’ syndrome and related disorders through a prenatal diagnosis, termination, birth of a baby, caring for a child, and bereavement.

All proceeds will go to SOFT to help them with providing support and help to other families in a similar situation.

Run For The Hills follows on from BST’s successful event in Parkanaur in November. Participants can expect much of the same at Pomeroy with new obstacles and plenty of surprises.

BST’s Chairman Keith Clarke is happy to be organising yet another trail run in the local area “These types of events are designed for all abilities and to encourage people to get fit while having fun. Obstacle courses are proving very popular and we’re delighted to bring another event to Co Tyrone”.

There is a large number of participants expected in the Pomeroy area on the day and local people can expect some traffic disruption.
