Sewer investigation work continues in Ballycastle

NI Water’s essential programme of sewer investigation work got underway in Ballycastle on Monday 3rd November 2014 and will continue until the middle of December 2014.

The work, which is progressing well, will take place at the junction of the Cushendall Road and Carrickmore Road and throughout the Carrickmore Road area, Ballycastle.

In order to carry out the works safely, traffic management is currently in place in the form of three way traffic lights at the junction of the Cushendall Road and Carrickmore Road for the first two weeks of the works. In order to complete work on the Carrickmore Road in a safe manner, it will then be necessary to implement a road closure the remaining four weeks. A diversion route will be signposted via the Dumaroan Road.

Eimear Gourley, NI Water Project Manager said: “Traffic management measures will be in place throughout this programme of work and NI Water and our contractor Conwell Contracts Ltd. would like to thank the public for their patience while this essential work is completed.”

The work may cause some delays at peak times but we shall continually monitor the situation to ensure that all disruption is kept to a minimum. We will endeavour to make sure the work is completed as quickly as possible.”

While manholes are open, the working areas will have warning signs and temporary barriers erected to protect the public from these hazards. The public are advised to stay out of these working areas for their own safety and NI Water would appeal for the support of parents to keep children and young people safe by explaining to them the dangers of playing in or around construction sites. Playing near our works areas can have dangerous consequences and we would like to spread this safety message throughout the area while we complete this programme of work.
