The ‘Shared Future’ Concert hosted by Ballymena North Partnership in the Ballymena North Business and Recreation Centre on March 22 attracted a packed audience in excess of 650 people whose voluntary donations on the night raised £1,653 towards a news minibus for the school.

Partnership Chairperson, PJ McAvoy, welcomed the gathering and acknowledged that some of those in attendance had travelled from as far away as Omagh and Belfast.

He extended thanks to Mid And East Antrim Council’s Good Relations Programme for funding and supporting the concert, to James Healy (Mid & East Antrim Council), to Jim McCandless and his staff at the Ballymena North Centre for preparing the venue, and also, to Colum Best, a fellow Ballymen North Partnership Director, for his work in securing funding for the concert and organising the event.

Those who attended were treated to three hours of country and gospel music from Tony Kerr and his band Marie Murnon, Liam

McLaughlin and Moira Crawley and her family.

Although the concert was seated, a few members of the audience took to the floor for a spot of dancing during the evening.

A short questionnaire was completed by some 30 concert-goers chosen at random, with 100% of respondents revealing that they thought the concert helped with community relations.
