The Ballycastle Official Liverpool Supporters Club handed over a cheque for £250 to Tiny Life and £250’s worth of toys to representatives from St. Vincent de Paul at The Anzac Bar last Monday night. The club raised the money following a table quiz in the Anzac.

James McKenna and Sandy Morrison from St. Vincent de Paul said the money would bring a smile to numerous children in the district. He revealed that last year the Society helped 23 families but this year had seen an increase.

Chris McAuley from Tiny Life, a charity that supports premature and sick new-born babies and their families, said he became involved after he and his wife had lost a child. “I wanted to do something positive as a result. We depend solely on donations and this cheque is greatly appreciated,” Mr McAuley said.

Part of the remit from Liverpool FC is that official fan clubs demonstrate a commitment to their community and the table quiz and the donations to charities meant that they fulfilled their obligations.

Chairperson, Hilary Midgley, said that two further charities would be selected next year. She thanked everyone especially the sponsors: Anzac Wines and Spirits, Dixons Contractors, Central Bar, O’Connors Bar, Diamond Bar, Ballycastle Garden Centre, Greenlight Gateway, McLaughlins Jewellers, McListers Toy and Momecare, Haugheys, P.C. Electrics, Living, McCaughan’s Chemists, McMichael’s Chemists.
