Sponsored walk for The Olive Branch charity

A Coleraine man has organised a Bank Holiday Monday beach walk/run to raise funds for mental health charity The Olive Branch.

Adam Watson and his wife Laura organised a series of fundraising events for local mental health charities last year, raising over £5,000.

Adam said: “Probably the most popular event was the beach walk/run on The East Strand in Portrush on the August Bank Holiday Monday, so we decided it might be good to make the it an annual thing!

“This year it falls on August 31 and we are collecting for The Olive Branch, which offers free counselling to anyone who needs it. Set up in Magherafelt in 2017, it’s great to see these guys have recently set up a second office in Coleraine.

“Finally, we know things are a bit tighter for a lot of us this year but we’d like this to turn into a social event, it may even help to improve our mental health a little, so if you can’t donate, please do come along and join in.”

The beach walk/run will take place at Portrush’s East Strand on Bank Holiday Monday. For more information, check out The Olive Branch’s Facebook page or Adam’s Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/olivebranchwalkrun2020
