St Ergnat’s organise ‘Big Spring Clean’

St Ergnat’s GAC in Moneyglass are holding their third annual ‘Big Spring Clean’ event.

The Spring Clean returns to Moneyglass and the surrounding area on from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, March 23.

This now well established event aims to clean up the local environs and educate people at the same time.

The event is open to absolutely everyone whether your associated with St Ergnat’s, Ahoghill, Cargin or even if you’re not associated with any club at all.

Club members and their families have got together to clean up their surroundings and help the environment.

Children who have taken part in the event raise sponsorship towards a new piece of club kit each year and also learn how important it is to look after their surroundings.

Last year 300 sacks of garbage where collected and brought back to the club field where they were stockpiled to be collected by Antrim Council the following day.

Both Antrim and Ballymena Borough Councils supplied gloves and bin bags for the collectors and over 18 miles of roads were cleaned during the event.

This year, organisers are hoping for more volunteers to join from other clubs and make a big difference to the local area.
