Star Dog of the Week Ellie searching for a new home

EACH week the Ulster Star has a ‘Dog of the Week’, chosen for us by staff at the Dogs Trust Ballymena Rehoming Centre.

Dogs Trust care for around 16,000 dogs each year at their 17 Rehoming Centres nationwide, with no healthy dog ever being destroyed.

This week we would like you to meet Ellie, an eighteen month ginger and white Terrier looking for a new place to call home. She came into the centre after being found as a stray and has since given birth to seven pups. She is a friendly little lady, whose character is starting to shine through and is making her a huge hit with the staff!

Ellie is a typical feisty Terrier and is full of fun and enjoys a cuddle and a fuss being made of her, so would like a home that can indulge her in all of this. She can be a bit shy upon first meeting, but once she gets to know you she’ll become your friend for life so with a bit of help to settle in she’ll soon find her feet.

After giving birth to the pups her health deteriorated for a bit but she is back on form now and is showing her love for the outdoors and toys, and of course she is always a fan of a titbit now and then!

If you think you can offer everything this little lady needs then please visit the team at Dogs Trust Ballymena, 60 Teesham Road, Ballymena, Co Antrim, BT43 5PN or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk.

• Last week’s Dog of the Week, Whisper, a five-year-old Greyhound, created quite a stir amongst local people, as well as some from further afield when we showed her off on Twitter (@LisburnStarSH). Following on from last week’s appeal, Whisper has now moved to the Dogs Trust’s Evesham Centre, where there is some interest from local visitors to the centre in Greyhounds, so those at Dogs Trust have their ‘paws’ crossed that she finds a nice new home.
