Star Dog of the Week Rio searching for loving home

THE Star Dog of the Week this week is the beautiful Rio.

Each week the Ulster Star has a ‘Dog of the Week’, chosen for us by staff at the Dogs Trust Ballymena Rehoming Centre.

Dogs Trust care for around 16,000 dogs each year at their 17 Rehoming Centres nationwide, with no healthy dog ever being destroyed.

This week we would like you to meet the wonderfully named Rio.

The Carnival may be on in Brazil, but this lively female Spaniel Terrier cross is bringing a energetic buzz to Dogs Trust Ballymena.

Aptly named Rio is a 10-year-old lady on the search for a new place to call home. Unfortunately her owner passed away and she is now hoping to find a new family, preferably with older children to spend her retirement years with.

Despite her age Rio is still very energetic and loves her walks and playtime, she is also a social girl and gets on well with other dogs.

If you think you can offer this loveable lass somewhere to stretch her legs then please visit the team at Dogs Trust Ballymena, 60 Teesham Road, Ballymena, Co Antrim, BT43 5PN or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk or call 028 2565 2977.

• Last week’s Dog of the Week, Ellie, a gorgeous eighteen month old ginger and white Terrier, is still continuing her search for the perfect home. Ellie, a friendly little lady and a big hit with staff at the centre, created quite a stir amongst local people, as well as some from further afield when we showed her off on Twitter (@LisburnStarSH). Those at Dogs Trust have their ‘paws’ crossed that she finds a nice new home soon.
