Stepping out for Action Cancer

ACTION Cancer have launched their 2013 Mother’s Day sponsored walk event which will take place on Sunday, March 10, within the grounds of Hillsborough Forest Park.

Now in its 6th year, the walk is being co-hosted with The Hillside, Hillsborough, where all participants will be given a goody bag and treated to mid-morning tea and scones after the walk in the lounge bar.

Event Organiser Emma McArdle said, “This is a lovely opportunity to get involved and do something different with your family on Mother’s Day. For those who may have lost someone close to them – the walk and morning tea is a comforting way to do something in memory of that loved one.

“For every £80 raised from the event, we are able to provide a free breast screening for women aged between 40-49 years and 70 years plus – we want as many people as possible to take part and show their support again this year.’

“The 1.5 mile route is suitable for all, including buggies and takes in a beautiful tree fringed lake, which traditionally attracts a lot of wildfowl including ducks and swans.

“The walk will start at 10am on Sunday, March 10 – registration is from 9.45am. There will be free car parking facilities at the forest park and directions will be in place for all walkers with an Action Cancer guide leading the way.”

To take part all you have to do is contact Action Cancer for a registration form and pay a fee of £10 per adult or £5 per child and then just raise as much sponsorship as you can.

An information pack, registration form, map and sponsor forms, can be obtained from Emma on 028 9080 3349.
