Store closure sparks art and antique auction

A SELECTION of art, antiques and furniture will be auctioned in Londonderry on Thursday following the closure of a leading store in the city.

Whitehouse Furniture has closed due to the retirement of its owner.

As a result McAfee Auctions are conducting a complete clearance sale.

Over 500 lots of quality drawing room, dining room and bedroom furniture together with overmantles, mirrors, pictures, bronzes and rugs, together with a selection of modern Irish art are included in the sale

Antique pieces include a seven piece parlour suite, display cabinet, occasional chairs including a pair of upholstered armchairs, chaise lounge, day bed, marble top credenza, extending dining room table and chair set.

Smaller lots include a selection of bronzes including a life size pair of whippets, table lamps, bookends, large two handled log bin, tie backs, books, bedding, plantstands, wall brackets, clocks, crystal and other light fittings, planters, wall plaques etc.

A selection of Irish art by J P Rooney, Michelle Carlin, Gregory Moore, Con Campbell, William Cunningham, Carrie O’Duinn, Roy Wallace, and Des Murrie, are included as are a selection of modern pictures and prints.

Viewing for the sale commences takes place on Wednesday, April 17 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 8.30pm each day and on the day of sale Thursday, April 18 from 3.30pm until the commencement of sale at 7pm sharp.
