Strange launches debut album

DOAGH country singer Philip Strange launched his first album in McConnell’s bar in the village recently.

Philip is well known in country music circles across the country and has brought together many old favourites and new tracks for this debut album ‘The Oul Grey 405’.

At the launch Philip performed tracks from the CD, including ‘Pretty Little Girl from Omagh’, ‘Galway Girl’, ‘Country Boy Again’ as well as the title track composed by the Doagh man himself. He was accompanied by his backing group Country Harmony.

Helping Philip promote the album on the night was BBC Radio Ulster DJ Hugo Duncan.

The ‘Wee Man from Strabane’ entertained a capacity audience as he sang many of his own well-known songs. The night also featured Moira county singer Boxcar Brian, before Philip took to the stage to round off a great night.

Copies of ‘The Oul Grey 405’ are available from Bert McCormick’s shop in Ballyclare.
