Students sought for 2017 summer exchange to USA

Two students are being sought to participate in a student exchange programme that could see them spend part of the summer in America.

Antrim & Newtownabbey Council is currently seeking two students to participate in the 2017 Student Exchange Programme with their sister city, Gilbert, in Phoenix, Arizona, during July and August.

The Sister Cities Student Exchange Programme has been running for over 16 years and offers two local students an opportunity to travel to Gilbert to develop an understanding of a different country, its culture and people.

The successful students will take part in a local socially benefi will spend three weeks experiencing the American way of life. At the end of the three weeks, two students from Gilbert will return with their exchange partners.

The Council provides all of the travel expenses for the Student Exchange Programme and help the students, parents/guardians to plan the summer activities. Students are expected to provide their own passports and spending money.

Completed application forms must be returned no later than 4pm on Friday, January 13. All nominees will be required to attend an interview, together with their parents/guardians, conducted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. To be eligible for the programme students must be in Year 13 and reside in the Borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
