Summer Storyfest at Ballycastle seafront

A tented Village appeared on Ballycastle Seafront on Friday 3rd August to host the BBC storyfest.

Over 500 children and adults were in attendance as the children got to experience storytelling, meet children’s authors, consult with the Book Doctor and use the book swap. They also got to meet Pudsey Bear and contribute to the creation of a giant book!

Chairperson of Moyle District Council Cllr Sandra Hunter said: “We are delighted to have this event here in Ballycastle, it is great to see visitors from far and wide enjoying the Storyfest. Thanks must go to Libraries NI, Book Trust and BBC Children in Need firstly for deciding to host the event in Ballycastle and for making it such an enjoyable experience for all the children who attended.”

Liz Weir, local Storyteller and Author explained: “This event was a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to see the joy of sharing books and stories”.

Caroline Carey, Acting Tourism Development Manager stated: “Myself and Chris are delighted to have been able to assist the BBC staff in bringing this event to the seafront in Ballycastle. All the children who attended had a great time joining in with Liz Weir during her story time. Pudsey Bear was also very popular and is welcome back to the area anytime!”

This event was organised in partnership with Libraries NI, Book Trust, BBC Children In Need and Moyle District Council.
