Surf’s up for Davy!

THE words ‘surfing’ and ‘Davy Boyle’ just don’t seem right in the same sentence - but the big man is taking to the waves at the end of this month!

As you know Davy was named The Coleraine Times ‘Person to Be Proud Of’ back in February. And, as part of his prize, Davy won a surfing lesson given by Ricky Martin of Alive Surf School in Portrush.

In a bid to get others involved, last week Davy challenged his Facebook friends to join him on his lesson at West Strand on Sunday, May 27.

The cost on the day is just £25, of which half will go to Davy’s charities for the year - Chest, Heart and Stoke, Ulster Cancer Foundation, NI Children to Lapland Trust, Defibrillator at the Heart of Every Game, Community Rescue Service, Spina Bifita, Friends of Willowbrook, The Blind Centre and Callum’s Chance of Sight.

“I just want others to get involved and make the day a fun experience,” Davy told The Times.

“You will never see the Caring Caretaker on a surf board again, so come along and record the moment,” he joked.

Lessons will take place all day, with Davy taking to the waves at 2pm.
