Tears, laughter and lots of memories at leaving Mass for Loreto College pupils

THE Class of 2013 and their parents celebrated the end of seven happy years at Loreto College with a special Mass held celebrated by Father Raymond McCullagh last Thursday evening.

The theme of the service was ‘Keep It Lit, inspired by the carrying on of the light of baptism, of family, and of friendship.

The Mass celebrated the friendship the Year 14 pupils and their teachers have shared, something which, it is hoped, is not to be left behind as the students close the classroom doors for the last time.

As the sixth year pupils finished their timetabled lessons and face the challenges of the A2 examinations, the evening was an opportunity to reflect on happy memories, with laughter, tears, song and prayer.

There were moving and uplifting speeches from Head Girl Aileen McAlister, Head Boy Niall Reid, Head of Year 14 Mrs Schira McGoldrick and principal Michael James.

Musical contributions from a group of talented singers and instrumentalists lent a tone of emotional reflection to the evening, which concluded with a big-screen display of photos from throughout the seven years which the class spent at Loreto.
In the past fortnight, Masses have also been celebrated at Loreto for the Year 12 and Year 13 examination classes.

Everyone at the college wishes the Year 12, 13 and 14 students perseverance in their studies and every success in their examinations – and beyond.
