The purr-fect pet partner

You may or may not have found your soul mate, but this Valentine’s Day vet charity PDSA is asking people to take some time to consider the other relationships in their lives - those with their pets.
Darcy is a Jack Russell cross who is just under a year old, shes full of beans and looking for love. This sprightly soul came from the dog warden as a stray so not much is known about her past history. Darcy is a sweet natured lady who has won the heart of staff and is ready to find a family of her own where she will be spoiled. Darcy would be very happy in an active family home with sensible children who know how to play gently.

“Owning a pet can be wonderfully rewarding” says PDSA Senior Vet Elaine Pendlebury, “but it can mean a relationship of 15 years or even longer, so it’s important to make sure you’re well matched.

People take time to get to know a partner before making a lifetime commitment, and it should be no different for our pets.”

Doing proper research to ensure that you can provide for their needs for their entire life, and that you and your new pet are well suited, is key to ensuring a fulfilling relationship for you both.

To prevent any unnecessary separations PDSA’s free online tool www.your-right-pet.org.uk allows people to find the most suitable type of pet based on their lifestyle. It asks four simple questions, based around four key factors:

Place – which type of pet is appropriate for where you live?

Exercise – could you provide the right type and amount of exercise?

Time – could you devote enough time to your pet?

Spend – could you afford the lifetime expenses of your preferred pet?
