Theatre to host adaptation of Me and My Girl

FROM March 12 - 16 the award winning Fortwilliam Musical Society will be presenting Stephen Fry’s adapted version of the classic ‘Me and My Girl’ at Newtownabbey’s Theatre at The Mill.

With its perfect comic timing and impossibly catchy tunes the production was the perfect fit for the north Belfast society famed for its strong character actors and beautiful choral work.

Fry’s 1984 re-write of the Noel Gay musical debuted to great success and gave him the opportunity to pursue his true calling into show business.

Making him a millionaire before the age of 30, it also earned him a nomination for a Tony Award in 1987.

The plot of ‘Me and My girl’ concerns a cockney lad named Bill who turns out to be the heir to an earldom.

However, it turns out that Bill has another interest altogether, in the form of the endearing Sally.

But with Bill’s new family dead set against the couple, what are the young love birds to do?

The show will run at Theatre at The Mill from March 12 - 16, starting at 7.45pm each evening, with a matinee performance on Saturday, March 16 starting at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the box office on 9034 0202 or online at www.theatreatthemill.com
