Top marks for Waringstown

Waringstown Primary School again achieved great results in the Primary School Classes at the Banbridge Speech and Drama Festival.

Out of 12 classes entered, they had six first places, six second places, 15 third places and 22 certificates of high commendation.

Hollie Barbour won The Lowry Shield for P5 Girls, Oliver Millar the Nuala Tumilty Beauty Parlour Shield for P7 boys and Joshua Moles won the Patricia Mulligan Rose Bowl.

This was the Speech Festival’s Premier Award that Joshua won for gaining the highest overall mark in the entire festival, coming up against the primary and private entries. Joshua gained an outstanding score of 89 marks.

Principal Gary Kennedy was delighted with all the marks obtained by the pupils and congratulated teacher Jill Usher for preparing the children so well and keeping the usual standard of success at festivals.

He said, “It is to Mrs Usher’s great credit that she continues to provide such a wonderful enrichment to the children’s education and to sustain such a high quality of success over the years.
