Tractor lovers to turn out in droves for charity drive

TRACTOR enthusiasts are being urged to keep those big wheels turning in aid of NI Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS) on Saturday, April 14.

A Tractor Road Run is to be held over 25 miles on a variety of country roads, farmers’ lanes and private land around Glenarm.

Stephen Robinson, a member of the organising committee, explained: “The tractor run is great crack and a chance to see some great old tractors. It really does take you back.

“We are also very pleased to be supporting the NI Chest Heart & Stroke - a great charity helping people following a stroke or heart attack and we all know some family member who has been affected by these illnesses. So came along and take part, or just make a donation.”

The tractor run costs £10 and starts at 11am, with registration from 9am. The entry fee includes refreshments and lunch by Marty’s Catering.

Rallying point is 36 Drumcrow Road, Glenarm, and there will be a stop for lunch at the halfway mark at 102 Drumnagreagh Road, Ballygally, for lunch and a chance to see Stephen’s collection of Nuffield and Leyland tractors.

Valerie Saunders, NICHS fund-raising coordinator, said: “The tractor run is a great way to support our work and I would like to thank the organising committee for their support. Twenty people a day in Northern Ireland die from a chest, heart and stroke illness. As a local charity, all money raised will be used to support our local services such as cardiac, stroke and respiratory support groups across Antrim and Northern Ireland, as well as stroke family liaison teams who help local families to live with life after a stroke.”

n To take part, to make a donation, or any other enquiries regarding the event contact Stephen on 0797 464 9223 or Leslie on 0771 067 4103.
