The organisers are appealing to farmers and contractors to register their vehicle for the 20-mile drive on Saturday, April 25 to help finance an 11-strong party heading for Burundi which is recovering from the war that raged there.

The party is organising in three projects – building homes for ministers and missionaries who were displaced by the conflict; youth work; and a Mothers’ Union scheme.

Tractor drivers are asked to register with the two men organising the ‘run’ – Alan Milligan and Rodney Blair, both hard workers at Drumcree.

Said Alan, “We have contacted several people and are hoping to have around 30 to 40 tractors on the road. The response has been positive, and those taking part are asked to donate to the Burundi project.” Tractors will report to Drumcree Parish Church at 11.30am on Saturday April 25 and make their way along the route – out to the Dungannon Road M1 roundabout, and back by Derryall, Derrycarne, Derryanville and Garvaghy Road, then to the centre of Portadown, along the Brownstown Road and Charles Street to the church’s Breagh Hall at Dungannon Road where there will be a barbecue.

The Burundi party includes men, women and teenagers.
