Flights From Belfast to Iceland to Operate This Summer

BELFAST International Airport has announced the launch of new services to Reykjavik, Iceland, during summer 2011.

The twice weekly flights will be operated by Icelandic low cost carrier Iceland Express.

The outward flights will operate via Edinburgh while the inbound flights will fly direct to Aldergrove from Rekyavik.

Departures to Iceland will leave Belfast International at 11.20am Mondays and Fridays with the return flights taking off from Reykjavik at 7.00am on the same days.

Belfast will become a major gateway for Icelandic tourists to enter the island of Ireland delivering a welcome boost to tourist numbers and much-needed revenues!

Belfast International Airport Business Development Director, Uel Hoey, said: "As a committed and integral supporter of NI plc, our priority is to invest in the provision of new and vital direct access channels from key source markets.

"The aim should always be to develop the market, not simply splinter or replicate services to the detriment of the local economy.
