Tribute show to celebrate 40 years of the music of ABBA

GLENGORMLEY singer and actress Karen Rush is set to bring her new live and authentically styled tribute act ‘The Bjorn Identity’ home to Theatre at The Mill, Newtownabbey on Saturday, September 15 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the music of ABBA.

Although ABBA have no public plans to celebrate the musical milestone, The Bjorn Identity certainly do.

Karen moved to London in 1996 to pursue training for the professional stage, graduating from Drama College with a first class degree in Performing Arts, having specialised in Musical Theatre. Since then she has appeared in musicals at theatres and venues across the UK, as well as touring with numerous shows throughout Europe.

Over time Karen has discovered a real love of ABBA and is fortunate enough to have performed the vocals of Agnetha in some of the greatest ABBA tribute bands in the UK and toured venues across the globe.

“One of the perks of a job like mine is getting to see many different places in the world and as a member of London-based band ABBA Magic I have been lucky enough to regularly tour Brazil, playing to packed audiences of thousands,” she explained.

Karen has seized the opportunity to perform on home turf with her own band, the brainchild of both her and husband Richard, who is also an actor and musician.

“Richard is the skill and genius behind our authentic sound, working tirelessly in the studio to recreate all the layers of harmonies and effects needed for such a big show; even ABBA had difficulty recreating their own unique sound live on stage,” she added.

In just one year, The Bjorn Identity have taken the circuit by storm, performing at some off the most prestigious theatre venues and festivals around the country.

But Karen is constantly striving for perfection, and is aiming to be the very best ABBA tribute around by insisting on using only the most professional and talented performers who can recreate the ABBA experience. The talented line-up includes the superb voice of Colette Lennon as Frida and Jonny Maguiness on keys as Benny.

Karen and her band are delighted to be welcoming the talented voices of the Glengormley Integrated Primary School choir as special guests on the night.

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.45pm, are available from the Theatre at The Mill box office by telephoning 9034 0202 or by logging on to www.theatreatthemill.com
