Tributes paid to Cloughmills Vintage Club stalwart

Cloughmills Vintage Club have paid tribute to their esteemed member James McCollum of the Corkey Road in Loughgiel who died recently.

In a statement on Facebook, the Club said: “James was a vintage-man through and through, and when it came to throwing his weight behind club activities, he could always have been relied upon to step well beyond his call of duty.

“He was never happier than when spending time restoring old pieces of machinery back to their former glory, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others who were carrying out similar tasks.

“Our annual Cloughmills Vintage Rally was his great pride and joy, and when it came to supporting neighbouring clubs during their big days, he always made a point of gracing their events with his tractors and other pieces of machinery.

“As well as being a former Chairman, James also held other positions within the club, at different times over the years, and was privileged to be part of a successful club that was able to hand over hefty donations annually to many worthwhile local charities.

“Our sincere sympathy goes to his daughters Kathleen and Sinead, his sisters Moira and Margaret, his brother Frankie and his entire family circle.

“James will be sadly missed, but will be remembered with affection for many years to come by his Cloughmills Vintage Club colleagues.”
