Tuning up for the Atlantic Sessions

THE fifth season of Atlantic Sessions on the North Coast gets underway this Thursday.

The four day festival takes place until Sunday in bars, bistros and hotels throughout Portrush and Portstewart, with satellite events in Portballintrae, Castlerock and at The Listening Post in Coleraine.

This year’s festival will also feature some afternoon ‘Café Acoustics’ at local coffee shops: Ground in Portrush and Roughan’s, Portstewart. Coleraine Borough Council is proud to support this event which has become a permanent feature on the cultural calendar and is a go-to event for musicians and music lovers.

With more than 40 free live music gigs, the festival will showcase a mix of acoustic, traditional, electric and contemporary original music.

Look out for festival favourites such as The Murder Balladeers, Paddy Nash and the Happy Enchiladas, Malojian, Silhouette and Farmer and the Gun.

Many fantastic acts are returning this year to take centre stage together with a range of well known local artists.

New to the 2012 programme are some of the best up and coming talented artistes from throughout the Province, including The Emerald Armada, The Farriers, Katie and the Carnival, Rachel Austin, Seven Summits.
