Ulster Orchestra tunes up

SOPRANO Mary Nelson will be performing Haydn’s Te Deum, which will kick off the Ulster Orchestra’s annual Gloria! concert in the Ulster Hall on October 26 as part of the upcoming Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s.

Mary Nelson has performed alongside the Ulster Orchestra on several occasions. However, this year’s Gloria marks her virgin performance of Haydn’s Te Deum. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Mary is looking forward to performing this celebrated and passionate work. She will be supported by the Belfast Philharmonic Choir and the Ulster Orchestra in what promises to be a sensational opening to a superb concert. The evening continues with the majestic sounds of Fauré’s Suite: Masques et bergamasques, Cantique de Jean Racine and Pavane. This music, often admired for its understated elegance, offers somewhat of an aural respite before the grand finale. The concert ends, as always, with the uplifting and, really rather splendid, Poulenc’s Gloria.

Tickets, priced from £8 - £22, are available from the Ulster Orchestra Box Office, by calling 028 9023 9955 or online at www.ulsterorchestra.com.
