Well-known singer and musician Trevor Keys has been entertaining his neighbours in the Willowfield area of Coleraine during the one minute ‘Clap for Carers’ every Thursday night.

Mary Crawford, a resident of Willowfield, said: “Trevor came out a few weeks ago and give us a wee song whilst we were out clapping.

“He sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, it was the week that Cpt Tom Moore hit the headlines, after that it became a weekly thing.

“I spoke to Trevor and we came up with the idea of collecting a few pounds from each neighbour for the NHS, we are all aware of the work that has been going on by the teams in our hospitals and out in our community.

“There are carers that visit one resident in Willowfield and the first night we did it, they were very emotional. It is nice just to give something back, and we are hoping to continue this on through May.

“It’s just good old community spirit. It’s just good to see everyone and we all give each other a wave and have a wee singalong,” said Mary.
