Waltz into 2015, Viennese style

Join Ulster Orchestra favourite Christopher Bell and stars of Strictly Come Dancing Camilla Dallerup and Ian Waite as they waltz their way through the most delightful dancing music to ever enchant Viennese society.

With charismatic tenor Noah Stewart adding to the atmosphere of romantic sophistication, the Viennese New Year will set feet tapping and hearts soaring.

The Ulster Orchestra’s annual New Year Viennese concert is a celebration of that period in the century when Vienna was the city of dance. Waltzing was all the rage and celebrated for its 19th joie de vivre, elegance and charm.

The fashionable dance quickly spread beyond the ballrooms of Austria and Johann Strauss I took his orchestra on extensive tours across Germany, France, England and Scotland.

Everywhere people went crazy for his music – whether in the ballroom or the new-fangled ‘promenade concerts’ in the many pleasure gardens which were being opened.

And what better way to bring that bang up to date than to welcome Strictly Come Dancing stars Camilla Dallerup and Ian Waite back to Belfast?

Thanks to Strictly, ballroom is back in fashion in a big way and no two special guests can be better to bring this most stylish of dances to the Waterfront stage.

With the music of the Ulster Orchestra providing the swirl and drama of 19th century Vienna, and tenor Noah Stewart bringing to life some of the most popular dramatic arias and songs of the time, this concert is guaranteed to swing you into 2015 in triple time.

New Year Viennese concerts take place at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10.

Tickets are priced from £13.50 to £29 and are available from the Ulster Hall and Belfast Waterfront Hall.
