West Presbyterian fund raiser for new Church hall

The grounds of West Presbyterian Church were packed on Saturday from 11.30am as local people turned out in large numbers to help raise funds for its new hall.

Work on the building is due to commence later this year and Saturday’s Auction and Barbecue was held to amount some cash towards the project.

There were many and varied items up for auction as well as a market stall selling homemade produce such as jams, chutneys, vegetables, fruit, crafts, cakes etc.

A huge selection of high quality items were up for purchase, many of them kindly donated, including furniture, curtains and quilted bed covers.

A variety of donated services such as swimming lessons, hairdressing etc were also up for auction and proved popular with the big number of bidders.

The construction of a new hall will create yet another chapter in the long history of West Presbyterian Church which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013.
