What does Northern Ireland mean to you?

Following the huge success of last year’s competition, NITB and the Belfast Telegraph have teamed up once again to launch Northern Ireland’s biggest mass participation photographic event.

For a chance to win a fabulous family break in Northern Ireland, courtesy of NITB, we’re urging everyone to become a photographer for the day and take a photograph that illustrates what Northern Ireland means to them - from a family day out at a tourist attraction to a walk in the park with your dog or a hidden gem in your local area.

The unique aspect of this competition is that all photographs have to be taken in Northern Ireland on one particular day - Saturday June 30 - to qualify for entry.

Once taken, the photograph should be sent via email to [email protected] with a short note explaining the content of the picture and what makes it so special.

Ruth Burns of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board said: “The year 2012 is huge one for Northern Ireland with so many key events taking place and major projects coming to completion like the opening of the new Titanic visitor attraction and a new visitor centre soon to be opened at Giant’s Causeway, to name but two.

“We have a lot to be proud of and this competition gives everyone in the country an opportunity to show us what Northern Ireland means to them and why it holds a special place in your heart. Hopefully, when we collate all the entries, we will have a unique snapshot of how Northern Ireland looked and what people were doing on one summer’s day in 2012.”

As well as the chance to win a fantastic family break in Northern Ireland, everyone will have the opportunity to have their photograph featured in the Belfast Telegraph website’s picture gallery or on NITB’s website www.discovernorthernireland.com. What’s more, the top 100 photographs will be included in a special commemorative supplement which will be produced and distributed in September.

Closing date for competition entries is Thursday July 12 with winners to be announced in September.
