However fans of the show had other ideas and David Hull Promotions, producers of the show, have announced that, due to demand, the show will once again take to the stage of the Waterfront Hall and the Millennium Forum this Christmas and New Year.

Since the show began over 16 years ago, more than 250,000 people across Ireland and the UK have enjoyed theseries of concerts given by the many artists who performed during the height of the showbands era. As well as performances in front of live audiences the show has been recorded for television on three occasions.

For many Ireland’s Showbands - Do You Come Here often? had become a traditional part of the festive season and this year, once again, audiences are in for a treat with a fantastic line-up of showbands stars presented by George Jones. George will be joined by the legendary Dickie Rock who is appearing in the show for the first time in six years, along with Dominic Kirwan, Sandy Kelly, Paddy Cole, Hugo Duncan, Philomena Begley, Declan Ryan and Robin Averill.

All the artistes are backed by the fabulous sounds and backing vocalists of the Galaxy Showband, directed by Crawford Bell.

Tony Brown, general manager of David Hull Promotions said: “It was our intention to give the show a fabulous send off last year following sixteen hugely-successful years.

“However, the lights were no sooner turned off on last year’s series of concerts when we were inundated withletters, emails and phone calls asking to bring Ireland’s Showbands back to the stage! We are therefore delighted to announce the return of the show and are confident, thanks to its many fans, that there a few years left for the showband sensation yet!”
