X-factor star to play Burnavon in Cookstown

Now the former Tesco checkout lady is taking her career to another level, with the release of her third album, ‘Magic of the Musicals’.

Mary Byrne and her 8 piece band tour Northern Ireland for the first time this year playing at the Burnavon Theatre on Saturday 25th October.

Her story is the stuff of fairy tales and movies. She’s the Tesco supermarket checkout lady who took a chance in life at the age of fifty by auditioning for Britain and Ireland’s biggest TV talent show, the X Factor.

Although she was piped for a place in the 2010 X Factor final, Mary won the hearts of millions with her big, warm personality and powerhouse voice.

The warm, bubbly Dublin woman with the incredible voice won the hearts of people in the UK and Ireland and did us proud on the X Factor in a year that also featured One Direction.

Mary has performed for Queen Elizabeth II on her historic State visit to Ireland, and shared the stage with Neil Diamond to perform for over 55,000 fans.

In January last year, Mary picked up an Inspiration Award at the Sunday World All Ireland Country Music Awards, which take place every year in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Co Westmeath. She brought the house down that night with her performance of the Tom T Hall classic, Harper

Valley P.T.A.

Mary recently performed to a packed house in her own show in Dublin. During the performance, TV3 personality Alan Hughes presented the Ballyfermot woman with a gold disc from Universal Music for sales of her album, With Love.

Having achieved multi-platinum status on previous albums, Mary has just released her third album, ”Magic of the Musicals” which features classic songs from old musicals updated with a Buble style swing! Mary continues to be in demand as a guest at various shows, festivals, cabarets and functions.

She recently hosted her own radio show and she makes regular appearances on TV and radio chat shows both in Ireland and overseas performing from Austria to the Caribbean this year alone.
