Youth don’t get the headlines they deserve

THE young people of Moyraverty were applauded at Craigavon Council after their recent production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The musical by Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society (MADS) was described as ‘spectacular’ by Sinn Fein Cllr Mark O’Dowd.

Cllr O’Dowd said: “All too often there is talk about young people involved in antisocial behaviour but if you could see all the young people attending the show, acting and working behind the scenes - these young people do not get the headlines they deserve.”

Ulster Unionist Cllr Ronnie Harkness agreed, describing the show as ‘breathtaking’.

He gave particular praise to former Cllr Kieran Corr who produced the show.

“It shows the best of the young people of Craigavon,” he said.

Mayor Carla Lockhart said her diary had been full so she was unable to attend but commended all the young people involved.

She said she had been amazed over the summer about the number of activities young people had been involved with.
