101 reminder

Members of the public are being reminded that, from January 1, the PSNI will only be able to be contacted on the recently introduced 101 number or the emergency 999 line.

From today onwards the old 0845 600 8000 number will no longer be in operation.

Chief Superintendent Alasdair Robinson said the new number is easy to remember and use to report crime, or to receive advice in relation to non-emergency issues.

He said: “People should continue to call 999 in an emergency, when a crime is in progress, someone suspected of a crime is nearby, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened.”
