1,069 local abuseincidents in one year

Statistics just released by the PSNI have revealed there were 1,069 recorded incidents of domestic abuse in Ballymena between last October and this September.

The figures, which showed a rise of 123 incidents from the previous year, were revealed as the Police Service launched a new Domestic abuse poster campaign in the run-up to Christmas entitled ‘Domestic abuse is wrong, pick up the phone and make it stop’.

Designed to encourage reporting of incidents and make victims aware that they can take steps to stop it, the campaign will also run online.
